Mexico government to fine Telmex?

19 Mar 2010

The Mexican government is seriously considering fining the country’s dominant fixed line provider Telefonos de Mexico (Telmex), claiming that it had blocked smaller operators from connecting to its network, BNamericas reports. Telmex has reportedly further antagonised the state by refusing to comply with regulations and hand over information about its infrastructure to both the government and rival telcos. However, no indication has been given by the government regarding the likely financial penalty to be imposed on Telmex, nor is it clear when a final ruling will be made on the matter.
