State-owned mobile network operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is preparing to launch commercial 3G services in Pune, Goa and around 50 other cities, Telecom Talk is reporting. The report cites comments from BSNL’s chief general manager for the Maharashtra circle, Aloke Kaul, who noted: ‘BSNL will start providing 3G services in Pune in February and later in Goa and other cities in Maharashtra circle. BSNL customers will get better and advanced telecom services after the introduction of the 3G services in various parts of the state.’ It is understood that BSNL aims to open 3G service to all district headquarters of the Maharashtra circle, along with 50 ‘major cities’, by the end of the fiscal year.
