India’s telecoms minister, Andimuthu Raja, had revealed he expects there to be further cuts in mobile termination rates (MTRs) in 2010, Dow Jones reports. While any final decision related to imposed MTR reductions will be left to the Telecoms Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Raja noted: ‘I have requested that operators’... termination charges be reduced by 2010, and accordingly tariffs can be reduced.’ The TRAI cut termination charges for all domestic calls on fixed and mobile lines by a third in March this year, to INR0.20 (USD0.004) per minute.
