Indosat boosts network speed to 21Mbps

Indosat has revealed it has upgraded its 3.5G HSPA network to offer theoretical downlink speeds of up to 21Mbps and uplink speeds of 5.8Mbps, reports local newspaper Kompas. The faster connections will be available from the end of this year in Greater Jakarta initially. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, at the end of June 2009 Indosat was the second largest cellco in the country, claiming 28.9 million customers, of which approximately 750,000 were 3G and 3.5G subscribers.
