Vodafone Germany, Huawei to test LTE

11 Aug 2009

Vodafone Germany has announced plans to test LTE technology using the digital dividend frequency band in cooperation with Chinese equipment vendor Huawei. From this summer the duo hope to demonstrate how the fourth generation technology can bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas by providing unserved and underserved areas in Germany with broadband coverage. Hartmut Kremling, CTO of Vodafone Germany, commented: ‘Vodafone is actively involved in making broadband services accessible in Germany. Through cooperation with local telecommunications authorities and through the use of extensive expertise and experience of Vodafone and Huawei regarding LTE, we are convinced that the test will be successful.’
