StarHub publishes Q2 results

Singaporean fixed line and mobile operator StarHub yesterday reported its financial results for the second quarter ended 30 June 2009. The cellco posted operating revenue of SGD532 million (USD371 million), compared with SGD531 million in the corresponding period of 2008, while 1H09 revenue stood at SGD1.06 billion. Second-quarter EBITDA climbed 10% year-on-year to SGD161 million (1H09: SGD329 million, up 5%), and the EBITDA margin as a percentage of service revenue was 31.5% in the quarter and 32.2% for the first six months of the year. Profit from operations reached SGD101 million in the Apr-Jun 2009 period, up 13% year-on-year and net profit climbed 21% to SGD78 million. CAPEX for the quarter increased by SGD24 million to SGD70 million and for the half-year reached SGD121 million (up 15% y-o-y). As at 30 June 2009 the operator had 1.849 million mobile subscribers, up from 1.796 million a year before, of which 710,000 were 3G users. At the same date it reported 389,000 broadband subscribers, compared with 358,000 in 2Q08.
