Singaporean fixed and mobile operator StarHub today launched a commercial HSPA+ service under the banner MaxMobile Elite. The Huawei-powered service offers peak download speeds of 21Mbps across the entire city state and successfully concludes the operator’s rigorous trialling of HSPA+ which started in March 2009. CommsUpdate reported at the time that under the initial trial, some 100 selected customers were invited to take part as the cellco geared up for commercial launch within three months. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, StarHub had 1.82 million subscribers at the end of March 2009, a market share of 28.37%, behind market leader SingTel Mobile with 46.39%.
