Ericsson to expand research in South Korea

Swedish vendor Ericsson has revealed it will invest USD1.5 billion in South Korea over the next five years as it builds a new research and development centre focused on next-generation wireless technology, according to the Financial Times. As part of its plans to expand its cooperation with the South Korean government on the development of Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology, Ericsson will reportedly increase its number of staff in the region from 80 to around 1,000.
