Indian mobile operator Sistema Shyam Teleservices (SSTL) has announced the launch of its CDMA-based mobile services in the Bihar circle, the sixth region that the cellco has extended its service to; it already operates in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rajasthan, Calcutta and West Bengal. The cellco said it expects to invest more than USD180 million in the region, and initially has coverage in all 16 districts in the state, with more than 271 towns and 12,000 villages able to access its services. SSTL has also revealed that it is likely to commence commercial operations in Jharkhand before the end of July 2009.
