2.5GHz consultation extended to 15 May

8 May 2009

Colombia’s Ministerio de Comunicaciones (MinCom) has extended the deadline to receive comments on a bill to reassign spectrum in the 2.5GHz band until 15 May, writes Bnamericas citing a statement from the ministry. Last April, MinCom presented a bill that defines the conditions and requirements for the awarding of spectrum in the 2.5GHz-2.69GHz spectrum. It said that the spectrum band will be used for terrestrial mobile and fixed wireless communications services: it ordered operators using the spectrum to vacate the band. The source said that MinCom has yet to set a timeline for awarding the spectrum, or for deciding how many concessions will be awarded.
