Reliance Communications (RCOM) has launched post-paid GSM services in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, reports the Hindu Business Line. The company will offer three plans ranging from INR129 (USD2.5) a month with all local and STD calls costing INR1 per minute, up to INR375 a month with local calls at INR0.5 per minute and STD calls INR1 per minute. The company received its nationwide GSM concession in December 2007, soft launched GSM services in September 2008 and launched them fully in January 2009. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database notes that, prior to the GSM relaunch, RCOM’s wholly owned subsidiary Reliance Telecom operated a GSM network in eight circles; Madhya Pradesh, Calcutta, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar, Assam and North-East.
