The Philippines’ third largest cable TV operator Global Destiny Cable Inc (GDC), has revealed it is investing nearly PHP700 million (USD14.4 million) to upgrade its network to a digital platform. Although the company’s primary focus is on improving its basic TV services, local paper the Business Mirror says the cableco is also looking to build a seamless state-of-the-art broadband network to serve the public’s growing need for advanced information and communication services such as high speed data communications, cable television and telephony services. GDC is the merged company of Global Cable Corp and Destiny Cable Inc.
