BSNL launches WiMAX in Gujarat

BSNL has launched WiMAX services in the Gujarat circle, reports local news source TopNews. The telco, deploying the network in conjunction with US-based Soma Networks, plans to gain 50,000 subscribers in Gujarat by the end of 2009, and one million within the next five years. 25 towers have been erected covering six locations in the circle, and BSNL plans to install a further 80 towers covering twelve more cities within a year, followed by 300 towers covering the entire state over the next few years.
