India’s Business Standard is reporting that mobile operator Reliance Communications (RCOM) has launched GSM-based services in Mumbai. The move comes as the CDMA operator prepares to roll out GSM services nationwide; GSM networks were soft launched in several major cities in September 2008. In a bid to entice new subscribers to the service the operator is offering tariffs with a one-time subscription charge of INR25 (USD0.51) and talk time to local numbers worth INR900.
