KDDI rolls out ultra-high speed EPON FTTx

9 Dec 2008

Japanese telecoms group KDDI has begun the commercial deployment of Teknovus’ 2Gbps Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) FTTx broadband access network, based on the manufacturer’s 2.5G Turbo-EPON. The vendor’s Turbo-EPON solution is fully compliant with IEEE 802.3ah 1.25G EPON specifications, offering an upgraded Turbo-EPON mode for 2.5G operation. The chip enables service providers to manage QoS per service, per subscriber, guaranteeing quality delivery of bandwidth-sensitive triple-play applications.
