BNamericas is reporting that Telefonica Moviles Panama, which operates under the Movistar brand name, has launched commercial 3G services. The new 3G infrastructure, built by Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), will initially offer coverage in Tocumen, northeast of Panama City, and is expected to reach the capital in the months following launch. Movistar will offer post-paid broadband plans starting at USD29.95 for a 1GB monthly download limit, rising to USD49.95 for a 5GB limit. Pre-paid services are expected to be introduced a few weeks after launch.
