Airspan and Telenor sign WiMAX network expansion deal

23 Sep 2008

Norwegian telco Telenor and WiMAX network provider Airspan Networks have inked a deal that will see Airspan expand Telenor’s national WiMAX network across Norway, with the aim of providing broadband services to rural areas that currently have no broadband internet access. The announcement comes following the completion of the first stage of WiMAX deployment for the Norwegian operator by Airspan, and Bjorn Netland, Director of Broadband Platforms for Telenor, said, ‘We have enjoyed our ongoing relationship with Airspan and look forward to a continued and long-lasting partnership. The Airspan solutions interface to our existing Broadband delivery systems and perfectly meet our needs enabling us to successfully build our network and achieve our business objectives. This second phase deployment is well under way and will continue through several months.’
