Super iMAX, a 60/40 joint venture between South Korean telco KT Corp and Japanese firm Sumitomo, has announced the launch of a commercial WiMAX service in three Uzbek cities. Launched under the brand EVO, the wireless broadband network has been deployed in the capital Tashkent, Ferghana and Samarkand. Initially, the Uzbeki operator will focus on enterprise customers. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Super iMAX’s network operates on the 802.16d standard in the 2.4GHz frequency band and uses equipment supplied by BreezeMax.
