Hanoi Telecom signs deal with Ericsson for GSM migration

1 Sep 2008

Hanoi Telecom has inked a deal worth USD450 million with Ericsson for the company’s migration from CDMA to GSM. Deployment is said to have started several months ago and a commercial launch is planned for the end of 2008. The operator launched CDMA-based services in January 2007, but after failing to reach its subscriber growth targets in April 2008 it announced that it would be switching to the GSM standard.
