Swan Telecom has been awarded GSM spectrum for the Delhi circle, The Times of India is reporting. Swan will join the likes of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar, Idea and MTNL in providing services in the region. Swan beat other interested companies including Datacom and Tata Teleservices to bag the licence. The cellco had previously been connected to Reliance Communications (RCOM), with the Anil Ambani-owned company holding a 9.9% stake at the time Swan applied for the licence; it has been confirmed that RCOM has since sold its stake in the venture. Additional GSM spectrum has also been allocated to four operators for the Madhya Pradesh circle, with Loop Telecom, Unitech, Datacom and Tata Teleservices all receiving concessions for the region.
