News site WiMAX.com reports that unnamed sources ‘close to the development’ have said Reliance Communications (RCOM) plans to launch WiMAX services across 50 countries over the next three years. According to the sources, RCOM is close to acquiring an unnamed European company with WiMAX licences in 20 countries across eastern Europe, Africa and Latin America, in a deal rumoured to be worth between USD300-USD400 million. In January this year RCOM said it planned to extend WiMAX services across India to eleven cities by the end of March 2008.
