Telekomunikacja Polska (TP), Poland’s fixed and wireless network operator, has reported an 8.5% rise in net profit for the year ended 31 December to PLN2.27 billion (USD934 million). Sales fell 2% from PLN18.63 billion to PLN18.2 billion as turnover from fixed line operations dipped 8% to PLN10.9 billion. Wireless receipts rose by 7.1% to PLN8.1 billion. Full year capital expenditure rose to PLN3.68 billion, with much of the investment being channelled into expansion of its 3G network, development of its DSL network and improvements to the quality of customer services. At the end of 2007 TP presided over a network of 9.54 million fixed lines and claimed 2.15 million broadband customers. Its wireless arm, Orange Poland, claimed 14.16 million subscribers at the same date, of which 223,000 were connected to its 3G network
