Entel releases 2007 results

Net profit at Chilean telco Entel increased 22% in 2007 to CLP131 billion (USD282 million), compared to CLP108 billion in 2006. Revenues for the year rose 4% to CLP902.6 billion from CLP869 billion in 2006, although the earlier figure included income from Entel’s international units in the US and Central America, which were sold in that year. Operating profit in 2007 was CLP193 billion, up 7%, while EBITDA increased 8% to CLP363 billion. The group’s wireless arm, Entel PCS, reported a 13% jump in subscribers throughout the year, to take its base to 5.63 million, of which 74% are on pre-paid packages. ARPU in the fourth quarter of 2007 was CLP10,200, up CLP100 on the same period of 2006, while MoU rose from 134 minutes to 159 minutes over the same time frame.
