Avea chooses Alca-Lu for IP/MPLS-based network

Turkey’s third largest cellular operator, Avea, has selected Alcatel-Lucent to provide an IP/MPLS-based solution for network transformation. Avea will migrate voice signaling and networking services onto the IP/MPLS-based network, with the converged network being able to support voice, broadband data services (GPRS, EDGE and 3G), signaling and billing traffic, 2G/3G voice traffic as well as future multimedia services. Avea claimed around nine million subscribers at the end of September.
