The Cellular Operators Association of India has compiled its statistics for the three months ended September 2007, which show that 5.6 million new GSM customers were added in the third quarter, down from six million the previous quarter. The total number of GSM subscribers at the end of September 2007 stood at 153.3 million. Bharti Airtel added 2.06 million customers, lifting its base to 48.9 million, while Vodafone Essar added 1.54 million users to take its subscriber base of 35.7 million.
