Japanese cellco NTT DoCoMo plans to merge eight subsidiaries by March 2009 to cut costs, business daily Nikkei reports, without naming sources. To eliminate redundancies, DoCoMo will streamline back-office operations and work out a national sales promotion strategy, Nikkei said. The eight wholly owned divisions, employing around 6,000 staff, include NTT DoCoMo Hokkaido and NTT DoCoMo Tohoku.
