India’s total telephony base reaches 232.87 million

28 Aug 2007

Telecompaper reports that the number of telephone subscribers in India reached 232.87 million at the end of July, up nearly 3.5% month-on-month. The growth was almost entirely down to an increase in the mobile segment, with 8.06 million users added bringing the number of total mobile subscribers (GSM, CDMA, WiLL) to 192.98 million. The fixed line subscriber base fell by 200,000 to 39.89 million, while total broadband connections grew by 50,000 to 2.47 million.
