BNamericas, citing a statement from telecoms regulator Conatel, reports that Venezuela’s telecommunications sector grew 28% in the second quarter of 2007, representing 4.4% of the country’s GDP. The number of fixed line telephony subscribers reached 4.5 million at the end of June, while wireless users grew by 1.57 million to total 21.2 million. Internet subscribers rose 19.7% year-on-year for a total of 4.8 million users.
