Orange France is looking to trump its rival neuf Cegetel by offering free unlimited music downloads by the first half of 2008 with an even bigger music catalogue than that being proposed by the Vivendi-backed company. In yesterday’s CommsUpdate, TeleGeography revealed that neuf Cegetel, plans to offer customers unlimited music downloads from the Universal Music catalogue, one of the world’s largest record companies. Although it hoped the move would give it a competitive edge in the hunt for new subscribers in the high speed internet market, Agence France-Presse now reports that FT’s counter move could outdo it.
