Oi announces USD150m for IPTV trial

Brazil’s largest fixed line operator Oi (formerly Telemar) has announced it is investing USD150 million to launch an IPTV trial in Rio de Janeiro later this year. According to BNamericas, Oi has already started its investment to purchase a new platform to support the IPTV technology and upgrade the data distribution network. The monies being set aside for IPTV trials are part of Oi’s forecast CAPEX of BRL2.4 billion in 2007.
