UPC plans EUR40 million spend

5 Jun 2007

UPC Romania says it plans to invest a total of EUR40 million (USD53.8 million) in network upgrades this year as it moves to introduce additional services and a new invoicing system. The firm, which is owned by US-based Liberty Global Inc, plans to upgrade all its networks to allow it to offer triple-play services by the end of the year. It is also undertaking a re-branding strategy after completing the acquisition of rival Romanian operator Astral Telecom in mid-2005. The firm, which has around 1.4 million customers in 200 cities, says it has spent USD500 million on its Romanian operations since launching in 1992.
