Virgin Mobile plans JV with Tata Teleservices, papers say

Virgin Mobile is set to form a 50/50 joint venture with India’s second-largest wireless operator, Tata Teleservices, writes the Economic Times newspaper citing unnamed sources. According to the report, Virgin would licence its Virgin Mobile brand and technology expertise Tata Teleservices.

Tata Teleservices and its subsidiary Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) provide services in 20 of India’s 23 telecoms zones, and had 11.4 million mobile subscribers at the end of March.
