Telefonica loses Swiss 3G licence

27 Apr 2007

Nordic Wireless Watch is reporting that Spanish operator Telefonica has lost its Swiss UMTS licence, because it never used it. The company failed to invest in any infrastructure, as required by the terms of its concession issued by the Swiss Communications Commission (ComCom). Telefonica’s subsidiary 3Q Mobile bought the licence in 2000 for CHF50 million (USD41 million).
