Alcatel wins Italian WLAN contract

Alcatel-Lucent has won a contract from the regional government in the Italian province of Trentino to install a municipal Wi-Fi network. The broadband wireless system will be deployed in the provincial capital Trento, a city of around 110,000 inhabitants. The network will consist of 1,600 access points, connecting council offices and public sites such as schools. It will also be available for commercial and residential users.
