Telecom lights South Island cable system

7 Mar 2007

Telecom New Zealand has lit three new cable networks to complete a fibre-optic ring in the lower part of New Zealand’s South Island. The ring connects Christchurch, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, Invercargill, Queenstown, Cromwell and Wanaka. The firm says that the new system will accommodate the increase in data traffic that is expected over the next decade and boost the reliability of the core network.
