Belgacom sells stake in Mobistar

23 Feb 2007

Belgian telco Belgacom has said it will sell its 4.62% stake in Mobistar, the Belgian arm of pan-European wireless group Orange for EUR147.8 million (USD193.5 million). Belgacom, which owns rival cellco Proximus, acquired its stake in Mobistar when it bought Belgian telecoms services group Telindus in January 2007. The company said that the stake did not represent a ‘strategic asset’ and therefore it had waited for an opportune moment to sell it.
