Brazilian Wi-Fi network operator Vex hopes to sign at least two partnerships in each of Brazil’s 26 states this year as it looks to reach its target of 2,000 hotspots across the country, writes BNamericas citing the company’s marketing manager Marcos Ferraz Romero. Vex has 900 hotspots in operation in Brazil and says it hopes the additional coverage will help it boost its subscriber base by 45% in 2007, up from the current figure of 145,000. The company uses direct sales and franchises in the state of São Paulo and plans to expand to other states using partnership agreements. Romero said that Vex currently has three partners in rural and coastal areas of São Paulo state and Espírito Santo state.
