Mobile-8 Telecom’s performance helps drives up Bimantara profit

19 Oct 2006

Indonesian fixed wireless operator Mobile-8 Telecom had more than 1.5 million customers signed up to its CDMA-based service at the end of September, and reports it is registering between 5,000 and 6,000 new subscribers every day. The telco’s strong performance bolstered revenues at its parent group PT Bimantara Citra, contributing about IDR664 billion (USD72.5 million), or 26%, to the company’s total revenues. Bimantara’s third quarter total revenue and operating profits rose to IDR2.59 trillion and IDR444 billion, up from IDR1.76 trillion and IDR56 billion reported in the same quarter of last year. The group also booked a net profit of IDR302.7 billion, up from the IDR22.7 billion previously.

In announcing its latest set of financials, the parent group confirmed that the initial public offering by Mobile-8 Telecom would go ahead as scheduled in November.
