US cable operator Comcast has revealed that it contributed USD1.29 billion towards the USD2.37 billion spent by its SpectrumCo consortium on high speed wireless frequencies in the recent FCC spectrum auction. SpectrumCo, whose owners also include cable firms Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and Advance/Newhouse, plus cellco Sprint Nextel, acquired 137 licences allowing them to provide next-generation wireless services. The group has not yet revealed how it plans to use the frequencies.
