Netspace plans 4Q ADSL2+ launch

21 Sep 2006

Australian ISP Netspace has revealed plans to launch ADSL2+ services nationwide using Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) technology. Netspace will provide services via 340 exchanges in all states and territories using a mixture of its own DSLAMs installed in Telstra exchanges and wholesale services via the networks of other DSLAM operators. The company says it expects to start offering ADSL2+ packages to both existing and new customers in the fourth quarter, and expects to have DLSAMs installed in up to 30 exchanges by early 2007. It has yet to reveal details of any wholesale deals, but ZDNet Australia reports that Netspace’s list of planned ADSL2+ exchanges ‘bears a close resemblance’ to the DSLAM network of ISP iNet, which provides wholesale services via sister company PowerTel.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Netspace was established in 1992 and today provides a complete portfolio of ADSL and dial-up internet services. It claims to currently have around 60,000 customers, of which 35,000 take broadband services.
