Sales up at MTS

Russia’s largest cellular operator by subscribers, MTS, has announced a 20.7% rise in second quarter revenues to USD1.49 billion, although net income fell 3% to USD294.7 million. The firm added just over three million net new subscribers in the quarter, including 2.21 million in Russia (taking the total to 48.04 million), 660,000 in Ukraine (15.11 million), 152,000 in Uzbekistan (820,000) and 32,000 in Turkmenistan (120,000).
