Ericsson news flash: Swedish vendor to deliver mobile TV for Celcom

Malaysian mobile operator Celcom has contracted Ericsson to expand and upgrade its GSM network, including the provision of a mobile TV platform. Under the deal, Ericsson will supply its Mobile Softswitch Solution (MSS) comprising an MSC-server, media gateway, mobile packet backbone network (MPBN) and operations support system (OSS). It will also provide its Telephony Softswitch solution and Mobile TV and Video systems. Ericsson will supply and integrate its convergent streaming solution, which will provide Celcom with a single platform for packet and circuit switched mobile TV. The project will be implemented over twelve months, beginning in early July. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
