China Telecom and China Netcom have signed an agreement with three overseas operators to build a Trans-Pacific Express Cable Network connecting the US, South Korea, China and Taiwan. The new cable is expected to be complete in 2008. The network will comprise a pair of optical cables with a bandwidth of 960Gbps. The system will eventually be extended to India and a number of other countries in Southeast Asia.
