Celtel prepares for 3G

Celtel Kenya says it has switched its operating system to a 3G-enabled platform. The switch is part of a KES4 billion upgrade contract with Ericsson. Local newspaper The East African Standard says the new software will allow Celtel to introduce advanced multimedia services. Celtel has around two million subscribers in Kenya, while market leader Safaricom claims more than 3.5 million.
