Brazilian mobile operator Vivo has selected Lucent Technologies to expand and upgrade its CDMA2000 1x and 1xEV-DO digital networks in Brazil. Under the deal the vendor will enhancements will expand coverage in the states of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and enable Vivo subscribers to access mobile voice and high speed data services at speeds of up to 2.4Mbps. Lucent is providing mobile networking equipment, including Mobile Switching Centres (MSCs) and Modular Cell 4.0 base stations, and VitalSuite Performance Management Software to monitor application and network infrastructure performance.
