Mexico’s Secretario de Comunicaciones y Transportes (SCT) has published regulations for the auction of frequency bands for wireless technologies such as WiMAX and Wi-Fi, according to BNamericas. Companies looking to operate in the 3.6GHz to 3.7GHz and 5.4GHz to 5.7GHz bands will require a concession and the government is preparing to announce the dates for the auction of the frequencies; licensees will be guaranteed coverage in metropolitan areas. The bands 902MHz to 928MHz, 2400MHz to 2483.5MHz, 5150MHz to 5250MHz, 5250MHz to 5350MHz, and 5725MHz to 5850MHz will not require a concession, but operators using the spectrum will be given only limited coverage.
