Paris-based alternative telco Iliad reported a 69% rise in net profits to EUR68.9 million (USD82.3 million) from EUR40.7 million in the twelve months to 31 December 2005, beating Dow Jones’ consensus forecasts of EUR60.4 million. Iliad, the first operator to roll out a triple-play package in France, ended 2005 with almost 1.6 million high speed internet users and intends to lift this to two million by the end of this year whilst increasing its unbundling ratio to 75%. Through unbundling it now provides 1.3 million customers with VoIP, 1.1 million with IPTV and 200,000 with video-on-demand. It operates its own networks based on ADSL and ADSL2+ technologies and also runs the country’s second largest ISP Free. Over the past few years it has transformed itself from being a mainly dial-up provider to offering some of the fastest broadband connections in France.
