SLD to invest USD260 million in S-Fone expansion

SLD Telecom, a joint venture between SK Telekom of South Korea and LG Electronics, and Vietnam’s Dong Ah Elecomm, has revealed plans to invest USD260 million to expand its S-Fone mobile unit in Vietnam. S-Fone, which operates over CDMA technology, competes with Vinaphone, MobiFone, Cityphone and Viettel in the Vietnamese mobile market, and claimed 400,000 subscribers at the end of 2005.
