Indian cellco Bharti Tele-Ventures said net profit for its fiscal third quarter rose 25% on the back of domestic expansion and strong subscriber growth. Net profit in the three months to 31 December 2005 rose to INR5.45 billion (USD123.1 million), up from INR4.36 billion a year earlier, on the back of a 42% rise in revenues to INR30.26 billion. Bharti added 2.4 million GSM mobile subscribers in the period, taking its total to 16.33 million at the end of 2005; it had an additional 1.2 million fixed line and broadband customers at that date.
