According to BNAmericas, the Peruvian private investment promotion agency ProInversion and the country’s transport and telecommunications ministry are planning the auction of the country’s fifth wireless band for the first quarter of 2006. The ministry first announced plans for the new licence in October last year, after a series of mergers and acquisitions left the market with just two players – Telefonica Moviles (Movistar Peru) and America Movil.
